About
… Here
These are the personal pages of Jaap van der Velde. Anywhere online, you’ll find me as Grismar (or Volk in rare places), which is where the name of the site originated. I first started this site while I was playing the MMORPG NeoCron (v1) and I needed a place to host my online map database for the game. I’ve used the Grismar moniker since. I’ve moved on to EVE Online since then and you’ll find a wealth of tools related to that game in my EVE Wiki.
Have fun reading my pages and feel free to let me know if you have questions or want to contribute something. You can either sign up on this site and post comments or contact me in some other way.
The images on these pages were created using either The GIMP or Inkscape. You can read more about the ASCII art banner as well and you may be able to tell from the layout that the site itself is WordPress with some custom widgets and styling.
All material on these pages are copyright Jaap van der Velde, with the exception of the contant of the EVE Wiki, which is partly free and partly based on material copyright CCP Games.
… Me
I’m Jaap van der Velde, aka Grismar. I live and work in The Hague, the Netherlands. I’m living together with my girlfriend Simone and have been for well over 7 years now. When I’m not at home messing around with my PC, playing games or running D&D games, I can be found in cinema’s, concert halls or riding my motorcycle around Europe.
Three days a week, I work for the Nationaal Archief, which are the national archives of the Netherlands, as a technical project lead. We’re building a new website, with a completely new back-end, with the ultimate goal of bringing everything the archives have to offer online and to share it with the world and the web in particular.
I’m also part-time employed application designer for a small company named Thorax in Amersfoort, the Netherlands. For Thorax, I’m part of many small projects, many of which are part of the UITWEG initiative to connect chains of organizations using a variety of software. Middle ware is the key term.
